Diamond Drill Reports
Reports, 1923-1925, of diamond drilling at various sites in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, including Cherokee, Clark, Copper Range, Keweenaw Copper, Mass, Naumkeag, New Baltic, Oneco and Torch Lake mines. The field work was done by both Calumet and Hecla Consolidated Copper Company's Geological Division and the United States Geological Survey, probably in support of Professional Paper 144, "The Copper Deposits of Michigan."
Douglass Houghton Papers
Papers, 1830-1846, of Douglass Houghton, Michigan's first state geologist as well as a physician and scientist. Includes correspondence, survey maps, geological field notes for the interior Lower Peninsula, the shorelines of the Lower and Upper Peninsulas, and the southern shoreline of Lake Superior, Isle Royale, and the Upper Peninsula. Also includes a calendar and a small index volume with names.

Photograph collection, 1864-circa 1976, of Earl Gagnon, a resident of Ripley, Michigan and staff writer and photographer for the Daily Mining Gazette of Houghton, Michigan. Includes images of ships, railroads, lighthouses, schools, copper mines and minings and buildings as well as local sports teams, local residents and Keweenaw scenery. Also includes photographs of the construction and installation of the Bishop Baraga monument on Keweenaw Bay.

Includes commencement invitations for Hancock High School, Lake Linden High School and the Michigan Mining School as well as invitations to local parties, some printed on fabric or sheets of copper. Also contains stock certificates from various mining companies in Arizona, Minnesota, and Michigan in addition to lumber, truck body and development businesses.

Day book entries include lists of goods purchased, lists of items to purchase, recipes for various medicines, notes and short diary entries. One day book appears to be for a store near L'Anse, Michigan. Also includes a ledger with customer's purchases and day book listed.
