Drier, a native of Calumet, Michigan and alumnus and professor of the Michigan College of Mining and Technology (now Michigan Technological University) in Houghton, Michigan. Includes work done under appropriate duty orders for the U.S. Navy on x-ray investigations and a scrapbook with clippings, letters, invitations and programs. Also includes Drier's doctoral hood and graduation cap, the first issued by the Michigan College of Mining and Technology.

Ruth Ann Miller Tragedy Papers

Papers, 1966, chronicling the tragic death of 7-year old Ruth Ann Miller. Miller was playing around the abandoned No. 4 shaft of the Tamarack Mine in Houghton County, Michigan when she slipped under its cap and fell to her death. Includes photocopies and scans from local and regional papers about the accident and the subsequent unsuccessful attempts at rescue and recovery. Also includes newspaper accounts about the vandalism of the memorial erected at the site.
