Hulbert defends his management choices regarding the early operation of the Calumet & Hecla Mine, or describes his impressions of subsequent company executives. In one letter (Box 2, Folder 14), Hulbert describes an experience in which he felt the presence of a deceased sister in his life.

This collection is comprised primarily of correspondence from Edwin Hulbert to Frederick Mackenzie dating from 1868 to 1913. It contains only a few copies of Mackenzie's letters to Hulbert, and a few pieces of miscellaneous correspondence from other writers. Also included in this collection are some financial records and receipts, an unidentified photograph, and a small assemblage of marbled end papers.
