Biography

Harold H. Heikkinen was born in Atlantic Mine, Michigan and began photographing his hometown and the Copper Country at the age of 15. After spending time in the U.S. Army he graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1970. He worked for the Michigan State Highway Department in Testing and Research and retired from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation where he had worked since 1980. Now retired, Heikkinen continues to add to his photographic collection in addition to copying family photo albums and scrapbooks.
