From the Series:

Correspondence, invoices, and various other records relating to John Hoar and Brother General Merchandise and Hoar’s ventures into quarry stripping, shipping, and railroads. Records of particular interest included those relating to the steam ship, Ivanhoe and the Marquette, Houghton, and Ontonagon Railroad (later known as the Duluth, South Shore, and Atlantic Railroad.) Also of note is correspondence with local mining and lumber companies including letters from William Parnall, superintendent of National Mine.
