Sperr of the Michigan College of Mines in Houghton, Michigan and the Grand Rapids Plaster Company, a gypsum mining company in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Sperr was contacted as a consultant for the company regarding several cave-ins of the roof and falling rock that the mine was experiencing.
