Manuscript, circa 1987, of "A School in the Woods" by Charles Symon about Thomas Bright Wyman's forestry school, the School of the Woods once located in Munising, Michigan. Includes a manuscript copy of an article that appeared in Michigan History magazine (Jan/Feb 1987) with a few variations.
Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company Forest Survey Records
Forest survey records, 1896-1943, describing land owned by the company on Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Along with the survey notes are copies of notes prepared by Henry S. Graves in 1896 as part of his working plan for the management of the company's forest lands and a copy of a report on forest management of the area in the 1930s, written by J. W. Toumey. The land described in these records extends from the edge of the Ottawa National Forest to Sault Ste. Marie.

Records, 1942-1976, of fire reports for the Michigan Department of Conservation, kept by Sulo Levanen, a long-time employee of the department in Keweenaw and Houghton counties. In addition to field reports of fires, there are daily log books, payroll reports, maps and drawings of the Upper Peninsula, fire summary reports and burning permit records.
