Records, 1988-2014, from the Michigan Technological University Center for Diversity and Inclusion's office. Materials include photographs, DVDs, documents, newspaper articles, and ephemera related to Martin Luther King, Jr. commemoration and Black History Month at Michigan Tech. Contents also document the CDI's activities and promotion of events like Pride Week and Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Pow Wow; as well as their annual awards ceremonies for the Percy Julian Award and Hispanic, African American, and Native American (HAANA) Award.

Historical Note
The Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) is a department within Michigan Technological University, housed in the Hamar House. It's function on campus is to promote diversity ,create welcoming and safe spaces for all, collaborate on campus initiatives that support and foster cultural diversity and inclusion, while building awareness of social justice issues. CDI sponsors, hosts, and supports various workshops, speakers, and events on campus aimed at creating a "deeper understanding and appreciation for diversity, inclusion, and social justice," including Black History Month, Martin Luther King, Jr. Week, Women's History Month, the Percy Julian Graduation Reception, and events like the annual Michigan Tech Drag Show and Bra shows.

Arrangement
Collection is arranged into three series. SERIES I: Black History Month and Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorations, SERIES II: Newspaper Clippings, and SERIES III: Photographs and Negatives.
SERIES I: is comprised of correspondence, notes, handouts, DVDs and other materials related to the Center for Diversity and Inclusion's events and activities related to Black History Month, commemorations for Martin Luther King, Jr., and Pride Week; as well as documenation of recipients of the Percy Julian Award and Hispanic, African American, and Native American (HAANA) Awards.
SERIES II: consists of newspaper clippings from local newspapers documenting the publicity, promotion, and documentation of activities coordinated or sponsored by the Center for Diversity and Inclusion.
SERIES III:consists of photographs and negatives from the Center for Diverstiy and Inclusion's activities, events, and commemorations. Included are photographs of students at Michigan Tech commencement ceremonies, trips and excursions, and various formal and informal events hosted, sponsored, or attended by CDI.
