Biographical Note

Margaret Ziemnick was born in 1937 to Mr. and Mrs. Fred (Frederick) Ziemnick of Hubbell. She attended Sacred Heart High School. Ziemnick was a member of the Busy Needles 4-H Club of Hubbell, Michigan for which her parents served as leaders. While Margaret completed projects in the areas of sewing, leathercraft, knitting, canning, and photography; she excelled in baking. Ziemnick won the Houghton County pie baking championship in 1955 with her cherry pie.

Margaret Ziemnick married Frederick “Fred” Kekko, changing her name to Margaret Kekko. Fred Kekko died in April 2013.
