J. T. Nachazel War Service Shops Personal and Military Records
Scope and Contents
Personal records, 1943, for Michigan Technological University “Shop Men,” including records for J. T. Nachazel, supervisor. Records include personal and military (naval) records for each man. Personal records include the name, address, and place of birth for each individual; as well as physical description, religious preference, and information about the individual’s parents. Also, included is information regarding the individual’s high school and college record. Military records (on the verso of each card) includes dates of service; any battles, camps, or ships they were stationed on; and medals, wounds, and other remarks. Several blank cards are included as examples.

Biographical Note
J. T. (Julius T.) Nachazel received B.S. and E.M. degrees from Michigan College of Mines and went on to serve as an assistant professor, superintendent of equipment, and full-time director of extension and student recruitment. Nachazel was also instrumental in the establishment of the Army ROTC on campus and served as the director of job corps training in the War Service Shops during World War II.
