Robert Schwaderer construction slide collection
Scope and Contents
Two hundred-forty three color slides, approximately 1950s-1960s, of powerline construction sites taken by Robert Schwaderer. Slides document powerline construction jobs throughout Michigan and include the laying of the first electric cable across the Straits of Mackinac in 1956. The photographs were taken by Schwaderer during his employment with Consumers Electric and Hydaker-Wheatlake Company and shows construction crews laying pipe, road building, and various construction sites. Also included are slides of scenery around job sites including Big Bear Dunes and Winter Carnival snow statues at Michigan Tech.

Biographical / Historical
Robert Schwaderer graduated from Michigan Tech in Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Following graduation he worked for Consumer Electric before taking a position with Hydaker-Wheatlake Company in Big Rapids (later Reed City).
