Biography

The Paavola Senior Citizens Center was located in a building originally constructed by the neighborhood Finnish House Society in 1897 and served as a temperance social club. It was also a headquarters for the "Workers of the World" communist party, an Apostolic Lutheran Church, a township hall and a health club in the 1930s. After being dormant through the 1960s, it was purchased by the Paavola Senior Citizens club which modernized and renovated the building in 1975. In 1994 the building was donated to the Institute of Natural Therapies. The Paavola Hall also serves the neighborhood for small wedding receptions and business meetings.
