Biographical / Historical
The Keweenaw Land Trust (KLT) is a non-profit charitable organization founded in 1996 by Copper Country residents. The organization’s goal is to protect the Upper Peninsula's natural environment for the use and enjoyment by current and future generations through various conservation projects and education.The Trust serves the counties of Keweenaw, Houghton, and Baraga and their partnerships extend into the counties in Iron, Ontonagon and Gogebic. A board of volunteer directors leads the Trust including the Finance Committee. The organization partners with both local government organizations and larger national organizations, such as the Land Trust Alliance, to achieve their goals.
