Collection Scope and Content Summary
Collection, 1903-1999, of photographs with some other materials related to the Michigan Tech Hockey team, the Huskies. The collections consists of photographs, awards, clippings, and videos. Subjects include individual players, coaches, team photos, games and practices, playoffs, awards, youth clinics, and the construction of the Michigan Tech Hockey Educational Center.

Historical Note
The Michigan Tech Huskies men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college hockey program that represents Michigan Technological University of Houghton, Michigan. The team's inception was in 1919.
The Huskies hockey team is also a charter member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), which started in 1951. In addition, the Huskies also host and compete in the annual Great Lakes Invitational at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The four-team tournament was founded in 1965 and it is held annually between Christmas and New Year as part of College Hockey at The Joe.
The program has played in several different home arenas, including the Amphidrome, Calumet Colosseum, Dee Stadium and the MacInnes Student Ice Arena. The current home arena is the MacInnes Student Ice Arena located in the Student Development Complex on the Michigan Tech campus. The team rose to national prominence under the leadership of Coach John MacInnes during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. The team has won three NCAA Division I championships (1962, 1965, and 1975) and seven WCHA championships (1962, 1965, 1969, 1971, 1974, and 1976).

This collection is divided into five series; videos, photographs, game photographs, Educational Center photographs, and awards.
Acquisition
The material was donated to the Michigan Technological University Archives and Copper Country Historical Collections by the Michigan Technological University Hockey Program, via Damon Whitten and Nick Laurila on September 1, 2011, by Darcy Way on January 21, 2013, and by Kathy and Bill Wassberg on January 22, 2013.
