Biography
Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan holds an orientation every year for first-year and transfer students, as well as offering parent and family orientation programs. Orientation is designed to do the following for incoming students: provide students with an introduction to their academic program and advising; create opportunities for new students to meet members of the campus community; excite new students about being a member of the Michigan Tech community; offer information and exposure to campus resources and opportunities; assist new students in understanding their rights and responsibilities within their new home and academic community; and reflect on common new-student experiences with diversity and multiculturalism, personal wellness, independence and personal responsibility, time management, and community living.
