Biography

In 1968, a small group of black students at Michigan Technological University organized the Afro-American Society. The activities of the group included forums and discussions of relevant African-American issues of the day, and to promote African-American culture on campus. The group went dormant in 1972, but re-organized in 1974 as the African Students Association. The minutes end in 1981. These organizations are the predecessors of the current Black Student Association.
