Collection, circa 1956-circa 1965, of Facilities Management at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. Includes slides and lantern slides of campus systems and operating records including piping diagrams, steam distribution diagrams, central heat plant daily, monthly and yearly logs, and various other schematics. Also includes series of aerial photographs of the campus in 1956 with markings indicating planning for the relocation of highway US 41.

Biography

Facilities Management (formerly the Physical Plant Dept., name changed June 1989) at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan is a service oriented organization offering services in building operations, grounds, and trades. Professional staff, skilled trades personnel, mechanics and maintenance employees, provide efficient campus roads, walkways and parking facilities, repair electrical/mechanical systems, maintain the beauty of the lawns and shrubbery, remove snow and ice, provide a clean and healthy working environment, and provide the campus' heat and power. Facilities Management's mission is to provide a safe, clean, efficient work place for all students, faculty and staff of Michigan Technological University.
