Collection Scope and Content Summary
Collection, 1970-2010, of the "Discovering Copper Country Women's Heritage" programs coordinated by the Copper Country Women's Heritage Committee in conjunction with the Humanities Department of Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. This collection also contains records pertaining to several Michigan Technological University women's committees and conferences, such as WomenSphere, Affirming Diversity: Feminism(s) and Rhetoric(s), History of Women at Tech, and the Academic Women's Caucus. Contents include video and audio recordings of programs as well as papers pertaining to grant funding, reports, correspondence, programs, clippings, meeting minutes, photographs, and other printed ephemera.

Biography
"Discovering Copper Country Women's Heritage" was coordinated by the Copper Country Women's Heritage Committee in conjunction with the Michigan Technological University's Humanities Department. It was a week-long program featuring workshops, exhibits, readings, plays, and films highlighting the significance of local women's history and the achievement of Copper Country women who came from a variety of backgrounds. The program was supported through a grant from the Michigan Council for the Humanities. The Michigan Technological University women's committees and conferences, such as WomenSphere, Affirming Diversity: Feminism(s) and Rhetoric(s), History of Women at Tech, and the Academic Women's Caucus were essential in raising awareness concerning issues faced by female faculty and students.

Acquisition
The Women's Heritage Collection was donated to the Michigan Technological University Archives and Copper Country Historical Collections by Elizabeth Flynn. The initial acquisition was in 1982, with several other acquisitions over the years. This collection is still be added to periodically.
