Biography
Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering society representing the entire engineering profession. It is the nation's second-oldest society, founded at Lehigh University in 1885 to recognize students of distinguished scholarship and exemplary character. There are now collegiate chapters at 228 US colleges and universities, active alumnus chapters in 16 districts across the country, and a total initiated membership of 469,740. __Michigan Beta was the eleventh Chapter of Tau Beta Pi to be established. It was installed on August 6, 1904 at Michigan Technological University, Houghton, Michigan. Since that time, over 3600 individuals have been initiated into the Michigan Beta Chapter.
