Biography
Harvey William Raymond was a resident of Baraga, Michigan, except for his stint in the United States armed forces during World War I. He graduated from Baraga High School in 1909 and was married to Ruth Shulstad, of Ontonagon County in the years prior to the Great War (exact date unknown). He received military training at the Michigan College of Mines Training Detachment in Houghton, Michigan and was also awarded a certificate in mine rescue training from the United States Bureau of Mines during the summer of 1918. He was stationed on the Western Front during World War I, predominantly in northern France. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army on April 10, 1923.
