Photograph collection, 1994, of the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region, a regional planning support program for the western six counties of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Includes photographs and slides in support of an economic diversification study of the Forest Interior Heritage Area in Michigan's Western Upper Peninsula, specifically logging sites, copper mines and mining sites, agricultural sites, and Native American sites.

Biography
Since 1968 the staff of the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region office (WUPPDR) has been providing general planning support to the western six counties of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula through its many programs, projects and services. While the programs are quite diverse, all support WUPPDR's mission: to foster stable and diversified economies in the Western Upper Peninsula. WUPPDR also serves as the regional clearinghouse for federal and state funded programs. Through this role, WUPPDR enhances intergovernmental coordination and encourages opportunities for public comment on projects of regional significance.
