Biography

The "Valvoja" was a Finnish, semi-weekly newspaper, established in 1915 in Calumet, Michigan. Originally published by the Finnish Republican Printing Company, it received its strongest support from the Apostolic Lutheran Church and Republican groups in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It was renamed the Valvoja Publishing Company around 1936 to reflect a more balanced editorial policy.
