Biographical/Historical Note
Perkins Burnham was a clerk in a general store in Eagle Harbor, Michigan, beginning circa 1859 that served miners from both Copper Falls Mine and Central Mine. He remained in Eagle Harbor until his death in 1883.

Abstract
Correspondence, 1859-1867, between Perkins Burnham and various members of his family as well as some unidentified business correspondence. As a clerk in a general store in Eagle Harbor, Michigan, Burnham describes to his family his job dealing with the miners from the Copper Falls Mine and the Central Mines in addition to his living quarters, meals and entertainment.
