Biography
Grant Township is part of Keweenaw County. It is Michigan's northernmost township and includes Copper Harbor, Lac La Belle, Betsy, Bete Grise, Delaware, part of Lake Medora and Manitou Island. The township has a population of approximately 172 with most of the people living in Copper Harbor and Lac La Belle. Copper harbor was the first exploration and shipping point for copper prospectors. It was home to over fifty early mining companies and mine sites in addition to prehistoric mining sites that can be found in the township.
