 Collection — sc_box: MS 3
Identifier: MS-650

Collection Scope and Content Summary

Correspondence, 1963-1964, from David DelliQuadri to his parents, Carmen and Wenda DelliQuadri from Vietnam. The collections consists of 14 letters written by DelliQuadri when he was stationed overseas during the Vietnam War; documenting his time from departure until just prior to his return to the United States. Most of the letters document his time in Da Nang, providing an open observation of living and mental conditions for the military personnel stationed there and the status of the war. Of note, DelliQuadri reflects on the assassination of John F. Kennedy and recounts the crash and rescue efforts of a downed T-28 plane southwest of Da Nang in which 14 U.S. military personnel were killed; which subsequently resulted in heavy combat with the Vietcong during recovery operations. Also included in the collection are two copyprints of photographs of David DelliQuadri.
