Biography
The Sivert Olson Furniture Store was located in Calumet, Michigan. The building was built prior to 1884, with a storefront on the first floor where furniture and caskets were displayed and an apartment above. In a separate building was a cabinet shop and stable. As was common at the time, Sivert Olson served as an undertaker as well as a cabinetmaker (excerpted from Main Street Calumet, http://www.mainstreetcalumet.com/0808newsletter.pdf, accessed February 2011).
