Biography

Adjoining Laurium on the south, Florida Location consists of two subdivisions that were platted by the Florida Mining Company in the late nineteenth century. The company sold these lots for private development, but the subdivisions were never added to the village of Laurium as intended. Only a change in the orientation of the streets differentiates Florida Location from the southern part of Laurium. The Florida Water Company began serving the Florida Location community in 1909. As of 1985 it was still active.
