Biography
The Greenland Study Group was founded circa 1921 as a cross-denominational meeting ground for the women of Rockland, Greenland and Mass City, Michigan, reaching out as well to the White Pine and Ontonagon Women's Clubs. During its 70-year life, the club supported social and charitable projects such as Bay Cliff, Red Cross, scholarships, local elementary school writing contests, the operation of the ski hill at Adventure Mountain, playground equipment for the park in Greenland, gifts to patients at Maple Manor and the Long Term Care Unit, and the operation of a loan closet of home hospital care supplies. At each meeting, a member or guest would present a program on some topic of interest. The group disbanded in 1991.
