Includes detailed accounting of items bought by customers, inventory, profit and loss statements, and freight charges. Customers include several mining companies as well as unidentified school districts and hospitals. Two of the day books are embossed with the initials "JHS," one also has James H. Seager written on the inside cover. Seager was a local entrepreneur and general store owner in Franklin Mine and Ripley.

Biography
Perkins and Company was located in Hancock, Michigan and operated during the 1860s through at least the early 1880s. It was a general store and catered to the local mines, miners and residents of the area. May have later become James H. Seager and Company.
