 Series

Scope and Content Summary

From the Collection:

Audio cassettes, 1973, containing oral histories and course lectures prepared for HU 450: Literature of the Upper Peninsula. Students in the course, instructed by Michael H. Johnson, interviewed residents of the Upper Peninsula, producing histories addressing a variety of topics related to the peninsula's towns, industries, disasters, and culture. Interviewees also discussed their experiences with national events, such as the Great Depression. An additional oral history is drawn from January 1979 and presumably conducted outside of coursework. The collection is completed by recordings of the course lectures, including both Johnson's presentations to the class and visits by guest instructors.
