Scope and Contents
Papers, 1985-2013, from Gloria Melton related to minority student retention efforts at Michigan Technological University's department of Student Affairs. Included are records related to public events on campus geared towards minority students, a history of diversity at Michigan Tech, and strategic planning documents from the Student Affairs Office. Also included are books, journal articles, and correspondence on race, ethnicity, and diversity. Many of the books are signed copies with an inscription to Gloria Melton. In addition, the accession includes one photograph album of images from Percy Julian Award recipients. The Percy Julian Award is given out annually to a Michigan Tech undergraduate student who shows leadership accomplishments that promote diversity, social equality, or racial/ethnic and cultural understanding.
