Collection Scope and Content Summary
Papers, 1840-2011, consist of research material compiled by Paul LaVanway on topics including Keweenaw County roads and highways, Brockway Mountain Drive and Copper Country history in support of his publications. The collection includes maps, blueprints, photographs, personal interviews and photocopies from other archival collections and original documents compiled by Paul LaVanway while researching; “A History of Keweenaw County’s Roads and Highways” tracing the route of Military Road through Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and “The Brockway Mountain Drive Story.” Photographs include descriptions provided by Paul LaVanway. Subjects and research topics include but are not limited to Copper Country history, transportation and roads, the Great Depression and Copper Harbor.
