Correspondence with James P. Graves (Treasurer): Insurance and Taxes, 1918 - 1918
Scope and Contents
Starting in 1907, correspondence with Treasurer James P. Graves was filed separately, rather than in the central correspondence file. A partial exception is correspondence relating to Lake Gogebic, which was sometimes filed in a separate file (see Subseries IV).
The correspondence in this subseries is the best source for learning about the management of the Victoria Copper Mining Company. Graves and Superintendent George Hooper corresponded in great detail about the operations and plans for Victoria.
Note that some correspondence with other officers in Boston is included in this subseries. Additionally, the filing system largely broke down in 1921-1923, due to the rapid reduction in staffing. Researchers are advised that the folders for those years may have inaccurate titles.
