Series Scope and Content Summary

This series contains original documents pertaining to the Central Mining Company as well as Stetter’s research notes summarizing the history of the mine and its community. Newspaper clippings cover both the mine during its operation and in the years after its closure. Other publications include images and magazine articles about Central mine during its “ghost town” years and the Keweenaw County Historical Society’s efforts to preserve the site. Correspondence between Stetter and former Central Mine residents and their descendants are included as well as Stetter’s own notes for talks and speeches he gave about the Central Mine.
