Scope and Contents
The Chief Engineer's Office Records contain extensive engineering records, correspondence, and drawings from the tenure of all three chief engineers. For additional engineering records relating to the federal valuation, see Subseries VIII: Financial and Regulatory Records.

Biographical / Historical
The Chief Engineer led the Engineering Department, which was also responsible for land issues. The position was abolished in 1947, when F. L. Batchelder retired.
