Biographical / Historical

The Lake Copper Company was founded in 1905 under the leadership of R. C. Pryor. After several years of explorations, the company sank its main shaft in the wrong location and had to sink a completely different shaft. As a result, Pryor was replaced as President by William A. Paine and as General Manager by C. K. Hitchcock, Jr. in 1910.

Mining was suspended in 1913 due to the strike and was resumed until 1915. It operated only until 1919, when the mine closed permanently. The Lake Copper Company was finally dissolved in 1939.

For a listing of officers, see the Appendix.
